Getting a server running Plex.tv for a PlexMedia and a dvr fuction with a a plex pass subscribtion.    You will need a Hauppauge or another compatible tv tuner, that works with Plex.    If you wish to run it on a nice Network Attached Storage device, you may want to check compatiblity list and with every 2,000 Mark on the cpu benchmarks score you get a good single stream.    Make sure the cpu has an apu-graphics otherwise you might need a graphics card.

Information Dump

About advanced systems listed:    Pfsence is a customizable router/firewall/dns resolver, and maybe more not listed here.   AdguardHome is similar to pihole, but as an ease of use it is better, just a personal opinion.

About some Shop's listed:    MikroTik has some of the best router-switch servers around that are nice for high performance per a watt.    FS has some customizable optics and transcievers. As well, as some fiber optic cables. Note: Fiber optic cables produce less heat (hear say).

Handy video about Network Video Recorders,Ultimate Network Video Recorder Comparison: Finding the Best NVR by The Hook Up. Information on UnFi: Is by Ubiquiti and works only with their line of camras. They do have support for their software and hardware though.

Setup A HomeLab

Linux Ubuntu lts, get docker running, add something like portainer or whatever docker version you want of software like PiHole.    Others inculded are Home Assistant, Portianer, Jellyfin (Media Host), Homer (a dashboard), openmediavault (manage files on drives from networked computers), and Minecraft-Servers.    This is a nice way to start your own HomeLab Network.

Remember to do your research and maybe create a copy of your main software, so you may have a backup.    Last tip, an auto script that you customize for your OS like an Ansible Playbook.    It helps spend less time when a fresh install is needed.
